Nervous Patient Sedation Killarney

Exceptional Dental Care For You & Your Family
Nervous Patient Sedation Killarney / Mullane Dental Clinic / Newcastle West

Dental fear and anxiety affects up to 30% of the population. It can affect both children and adults preventing them from seeking dental care.

One of our main goals here at Mullane dental is to create an environment where all our patients feel calm, relaxed and comfortable during their visits. Every effort will be made by our team to ensure our patients are at ease from their first consultation right through to the end of their treatment.

Where We Are

Our clinic is located in Newcastlewest, a 60 minute drive from Killarney. We have plentiful on-site parking and our premises is fully wheelchair accessible.

Who will benefit from conscious sedation?

  1. Patients who have high anxiety about dental visits
  2. Anyone who has had traumatic dental experiences in the past
  3. Patients receiving complex treatments or surgery
  4. Anyone who experiences difficulty getting numb
  5. Anyone with a strong gag reflex
  6. Patients who have jaw joint troubles and cannot open their mouth for extended periods
  7. Anyone who is afraid of needles in the mouth
  8. If you dislike the noises and/or smells associated with dental care.

How Dental Sedation Works?

In order to make your sedation treatment most effective all patients are first seen for a full dental examination and a discussion of the sedation methods available. This is what your first appointment will be for and you will not be receiving sedation at your first appointment. You do not need to take any particular measures for your first appointment which will be very similar to your routine dental check-up.

At your sedation appointment itself you will receive an intravenous sedation agent, after which you will feel drowsy and relaxed. During the procedure you will feel relaxed but will not be asleep. You will be monitored continuously throughout your dental treatment. At the end of the session you will be allowed to sit in the recovery room for half an hour or until you feel fit enough to be discharged home.
